Influenced by Vladimir Tatlin’s Monument to the Third International, the towers series embodies the power and influence of architecture. As am immigrant from Poland to Chicago, I was amazed at the architecture I saw the city, especially in comparison to the Brutalist structures of my native country. As an artist, I have continually come back to Tatlin’s tower as a symbol for the future and the revolution that can be embodied in a building. This symbolic nature of architecture is also present in the modernist structures of Chicago, which have consistently served as a source of awe and inspiration.
